PM Modi and Bill Gates talk about India’s digital transformation and how Digital India is taking the lead.
During a meeting with Bill Gates, Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed how India has been at the forefront of adopting new technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence. In a casual conversation at the prime minister’s residence, Bill Gates commended Indians for actively embracing technology to enhance their quality of life.
In a video shared by news agency ANI, PM Modi said, “During the G20 summit in Indonesia, delegates from around the world expressed their curiosity about the country’s digital revolution. I explained to them that we have democratized technology to prevent monopoly. It is by the people and for the people.”
Bill Gates said, “It’s like digital governance here. India is not just adapting technology, it’s actually leading the way…”

Prime Minister Modi and Bill Gates discuss India’s great technological leap
On Friday, former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates and Prime Minister Modi discussed various topics including AI in India, adoption of new technologies, women-led development, AI risks and more.
In addition to India’s technology front, Prime Minister Modi also highlighted how the contribution of women has been integral to the adoption of new technology in India. In addition, the transformation also continued with the risks of artificial intelligence and deepening. As concerns about deep counterfeiting grow, Prime Minister Modi acknowledged that AI systems need to be properly trained and that AI-generated content needs to be watermarked.
The Prime Minister said: “Our priority is to improve the quality of life rather than just focusing on services.” Finally, the meeting also emphasized the need for digital public infrastructure in rural areas to avoid the digital divide.
